Is Donald Trump About To Make A Surprising Announcement About Ted Cruz?

During the Republican primary, Donald Trump and Texas Senator Ted Cruz were the head-to-head finalists for the nomination.

Trump always held a comfortable lead and ended the primary after a decisive win in Indiana.

Many observers believed that after such a rough and tumble primary there was no chance the two former rivals could come together.

But shortly before the first Presidential debate, Cruz announced he was endorsing Trump.

When Clinton pulled ahead during October, many pundits mocked Cruz for this decision.

However, Trump easily won the election and Cruz looked like a team player who helped rally conservatives to unite around the GOP ticket.

That didn’t stop some media personalities from being surprised that Cruz was seen heading into Trump Tower in Manhattan to meet with the President-elect.

Speculation soon began to swirl as to what they were meeting about.

Bloomberg Politics’ Jennifer Jacobs reported Cruz was being considered for the position of Attorney General.

This would please conservatives.

Cruz built his following around his time in Washington fighting for the Constitution and against the corrupt establishment.

However, there were also rumors that Cruz was being considered for an even bigger job.

One Republican senator floated the idea of naming Cruz to fill Antonin Scalia’s seat on the Supreme Court.

The Daily Caller reports a South Carolina Senator suggesting Ted Cruz fill the vacant seat:

“I’M HERE TO TELL MY DEMOCRATIC COLLEAGUES THAT I VOTED FOR OBAMA’S NOMINEES,” GRAHAM TOLD WYFF-TV. “I EXPECT THEM TO GIVE TRUMP’S NOMINEES A FAIR SHAKE. HE WON THIS ELECTION. HE WILL PICK A CONSERVATIVE. I WOULD PUT TED CRUZ ON THAT LIST.”

Conservatives would be thrilled with a Cruz appointment.

And it would make good on Trump’s campaign promise to nominate a pro-life, pro-second Amendment conservative to the nation’s highest court.

Republicans stood firm against Obama nominee Merrick Garland.

Senate Republicans refused to even hold a hearing on his nomination.

They bet everything on the GOP winning the election.

That would allow a Republican President to nominate someone to fill Scalia’s seat and block the liberals from cementing a generational majority on the court.

Their gamble paid off as Trump won the election and they maintained their Senate majority.

Now the payoff could come in the form of a Supreme Court Justice Ted Cruz.
