If people want to know what’s really wrong with our country these days, it’s not guns, it’s the abandonment of our traditional values.
When I was a kid, we HAD to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance. It wasn’t optional, and our teachers could and would force us to do so, on threat of being sent to the principal’s office and, yep, spanked on our behinds!
But in today’s topsy-turvy world, its the teacher who forced her students to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance who was punished.
A Colorado middle school teacher is facing child abuse charges for forcing a boy to stand during the Pledge of Allegiance, a report says.
Karen Smith, a physical education teacher at Angevine Middle School in Lafayette, Colorado, is accused of grabbing a student by his jacket and forcing him to stand during the recitation and then forcibly removing him from the classroom afterward. The incident occurred on February 1, Denver’s CB affiliate reported.
Smith, a 20-year teaching veteran, turned herself in to police on February 1 to face the charges of child abuse as well as assault in the third degree.
She might have handled the kid a little rough, don’t get me wrong.
But child abuse? If that’s what constitutes child abuse in America today, then we’ve got problems.
